How It Works

1. Find a Destination

Before looking for the right home, find the perfect destination. We have homes all over NZ & will help you find the destination you are after, whether you want to relax at a beach in the Coromandel, ski in the mountains in Queenstown or enjoy city life in Auckland.

For this website, New Zealand has been divided into 7 main regions. At the beginning of each region on the website you will find a regional map showing the key locations within that region.

These also relate to the location of some of the holiday homes featured. We suggest you first decide on where you would like to go on holiday and then the location where you would prefer to stay e.g. Northland, Russell.

2. Find a Home

Now that you have found the perfect destination, we make it easy to search for a home at that destination.

When making your selection remember to take into consideration the maximum number the property sleeps, the price range and any specific requirements you may have eg: fireplace.

The holiday homes have specific details that are listed at the bottom of each section under "Details".

To help you we have provided some quick reference icons, as shown below, for three of the most common requests we receive. They are: is there a phone; are pets allowed; and is there a fireplace.

3. Dates & Length of Stay

Let us know how long you want to stay. We will hide any home that is unavailable on those dates.

Most of our holiday homes can be booked from any day of the week subject to availability, but during the High Season, bookings are usually a minimum of 7 nights and usually start and end on a Saturday or Sunday.

Similarly, whilst our price guides are based on 7 night stays or longer, most of the Holiday Homes welcome shorter stays outside the usual High Season and we have many guests enjoying 2 or 3 night weekends during the year. Please note these shorter stays are priced by us on application.

4. Make an Enquiry

Found the perfect home, send an enquiry. We will make sure that the home is available & hold the booking until you are ready to book.

Firstly we suggest you make an enquiry using our Online Enquiry Form that you will find under BOOK A HOLIDAY HOME, or you may prefer to phone us here in the Auckland office on +64 (0) 9 585 2300.

When making an enquiry please let us know your holiday requirements including your choice of destination, the property ref number(s) if known, your proposed holiday dates, the number of guests and a $ budget range.

Please Note: We are here during normal business hours, if phoning but we have an answer phone system for after hours calls.

5. How to Make a Booking

Once you have enquired, give us 24-48 hours to confirm the booking & we will get back to you as fast as we can.

When your booking request has been accepted, complete the Online Enquiry Form or else you may prefer to contact us directly at New Zealand Holiday Homes (ph: 09 585 2300)

We will take your details and check with the owner that the holiday home is available. Once we have confirmed that the holiday home is available you will then need to complete the Booking Form on the Enquiry Page.

6. Paying for your Home

You can pay for your Holiday Home by either Cheque, Bank Cheque, Bank Transfer or by Visa or Mastercard Card.

To confirm your holiday booking a 25% deposit is required plus the mandatory bond completed, with the balance due 30 days before the commencement date of the holiday.

Please Remember: if the holiday is less than 30 days away, full payment is required to confirm your holiday booking.

7. Mandatory Cash or Credit Card Security Bond

For all holiday bookings, whether paid by Cheque, Bank Cheque, Bank Transfer or Credit Card, we still require the Mandatory Credit Card Security Bond details completed as are detailed on the actual Booking Form. This is to cover any damage caused to the holiday home or additional expenses incurred for such items as cleaning, telephone toll charges and breakages.

If you do not have a credit card we would need an alternative bond, which could either be a cheque or cash deposit. This would be cancelled/refunded 7 days after completion of your holiday stay. Please note, all additional charges will incur an additional 5% administration fee (minimum charge of $5).

8. Linen Surcharge

Nearly all the holiday homes have pillows, blankets or duvets available as stated in the Holiday Home Details. This means that you will need to take your own sheets, pillowcases as well as all towels including tea towels.
Most of the holiday homes have Linen On Request i.e. sheets and pillowcases and usually includes towels for in-house use. However this will incur a small per head charge. Please note, if linen is required this must be requested at the time of booking your holiday with NZHH.
Some of the holiday homes have All Linen Supplied i.e. pillows, blankets or duvets, sheets and pillowcases and usually the towels for in-house use are all supplied. However this needs to confirmed at the time of booking as a surcharge may still apply for the washing of the linen following your departure.

9. Pets on Request

On request, many of the holiday homes will allow a well behaved pet, but this is at the sole discretion of the owner.

If allowed, "a surcharge of $20.00 is normally charged on a per pet per week basis. If you wish to take a pet this must be requested at the time of booking your holiday with NZHH.
